Learning Contract
PROFESSIONAL OBJECTIVES
1) Participate in weapon familiarization during quarterly qualification evaluations.
- Attend quarterly evaluations to learn mandatory qualification procedures
- Learn how to address suspects and to determine when and how much force is appropriate to use given case circumstances
- Participate in using three different types of weapons, and learn the proper safety precautions required for each
Evidence:
Include, in my portfolio, photos demonstrating my firearm capabilities, as well as safety tips for both firearm and baton training.
2) Familiarize myself with procedures taken in cases involving death of Naval personnel.
- Attend an autopsy with case agents
- Observe interviews of witnesses
- Participate in filing reports about data found
Evidence:
Include, in my portfolio, a fictional report of procedures taken during an investigative autopsy, including a Report of a Death Investigation form
appropriately completed based on biographical information of the deceased and cause of death.
3) Learn the correct way to obtain evidence through surveillance on suspects and witnesses in a range of criminal cases.
- Attend surveillance proceedings and take notes of techniques used
- Read reports of probable cause from evidence gathered in order to receive search warrants
- Read and review search warrants granted based on probable cause in non-fictional cases
Evidence:
Include, in my portfolio, a written report of a fictional case proving probable cause in order to obtain a proper Command Authorization for Search and
Seizure.
